Hurricane Katrina changed my life in so many ways. My family and I stayed during the storm and witnessed it all. We had stayed because the storms before didn't cause much damage. We thought this storm would turn out like the rest that we had ran from. My home was full of my scared siblings. We had lost power and the storm started in. It was very frightening and lasted for a while.

After the storm had left we still had no power or water. It was very hot and my family fought over small things being so frustrated with everything. My mother had recommended for me and my cousin, Emily to go live in Texas with her father so we could go to school. Our schools were still closed and damaged. We went to Kennedale, Texas with my uncle. We got registered for school in Kennedale. It was so much different there. I missed my home and my friends. It wasn't all that bad when my uncle got us passes to Six Flags and we went camping every weekend. I just was really home sick.

When we came back to Mississippi everything looked so different than the Mississippi I've always known. Nothing had changed since we had left, buildings were still destroyed. My mother and I were still fighting because I was so mad that she'd made me go to school in Texas. She also started dating her ex again that i didn't really like too much. After a year had passed everthing had gotten so much better. I started back to school, reunited with my friends, my mother and I started talking again, and I started enjoying her ex's company! Well thats just a little bit about how hurricane Katrina affected my life.
