I have to admit that I did not pay much attention to the presidential election in 2000. I was only 14 at the time, so it is a little understandable. Besides, in conservative Leesburg, Florida, people don’t really discuss politics. I knew that [[WP:George W. Bush|George W. Bush and Al Gore were running; that my parents liked “Dubya,” (Bush); and I knew that Gore had said he invented the internet (or something like that). Otherwise, I was clueless.
However, when the election was drawing near, the weirdest thing happened. About a week before the election, I had a really strange and vivid dream. In it, something non-specific had gone wrong with the election and Gore wouldn’t let Bush become president. At the time, I knew next to nothing about politics, so I believed my parents when they said Bush would be best.
The next week was the election (let me reiterate that I lived in FLORIDA) the famed 2000 election scandal occurred, and funny enough, Gore wouldn’t let Bush become the president. That is, until Katherine Harris closed the recounts and the Supreme Court decided Bush won. Since I had told all my friends about my dream, they all thought it was pretty weird. I thought so too.
