A Broken Arm, by Keith Schumacher

From MemoryArchive

Who: Keith Schumaker
What: My brother broke my arm.
When: The summer of 2001 at 1:00 AM on a Sunday
Where: My bedroom

One night, my brother and I were messing around like young teenage boys do. This was back when wrestling was big and popular, so we decided to try some wrestling moves on each other. Well, he decided to try them on me...I was the younger one anyways. Me at 13 years old and him at 14 years old we were really into wresling. So he does a couple of moves and it seems like fun. Then, he grabs a chair(pillow), and he starts wailing on me with it. I'm running around trying to dodge it until I jump and he hits my legs and I go flipping around, landing on my arm and breaking it. As he points and laughs hysterically at me writhing in pain, i had to go tell my mother. Remember this was at roughly 1:00 in the morning so my mother was sleeping. as I walk towards her bedside, I whisper "Mom" no answer. Again, I whisper "Mom." She wakes and says "Whats wrong?" I told her that my arm was broken. I didn't want to get my brother in trouble so I told her I tripped. Now, I thought she would get scared and get out of bed to help me, but i was wrong. Instead she said "It's Sunday, the doctors aren't open on Sunday, you'll have to deal with it until Monday." So I, still in great pain, took a Tylenol and waited until Monday.
