The Flaming Lips did a taping. The Flaming Lips did a taping for Austin City Limits. Flaming Lips-yes, the animal-suit-wearing, confetti-throwing, balloon-tossing, fake-blood-pouring Flaming Lips-on ACL. And I was there. Front and center. Lined up with Wayne Coyne. Two steps forward, I could have touched the man. The only thing stopping me was a chalk line and giant cameras. It was like he was asking me if I realized, telling me about a girl who uses vasoline instead of jelly, assuring me that a spoonful weighs a ton. He threw confetti. He wore an American flag. He blew up the giant balloon. There were people in animal suits. All on Austin City Limits. All on a Texas-based show who has showcased the likes of Willie Nelson.

It was history.

I have never been there before. Everyone else was always there, was always the witness to something spectacular. But this time, I wasnt just there, I was in it.
