Adding to MemoryArchive

Add a memoir

Memoirs are added here. Enter the name of your memoir in the box and click the button to begin writing. Be sure to follow the MemoryArchive naming convention: Name of event, place, date and author. For example:

Hurricane Katrina in Mobile, Ala., 2005, by John Smith

Organizing

Organizing a memoir

Memoirs must be catagorized so readers can find them easily. MemoryArchive has five primary categories: events, people, places, things and eras. To categorize a memoir, enter a specific category name this way at the end of the edit box:

[[Category:Category Name]]

For example, if you are writing a memoir of Hurricane Katrina, you would categorize it this way:

[[Category:Hurricanes]]

The categories for your memoir should be specific and fall within primary categories. Memoirs can be put into as many categories as you want, just be sure to enter each one separately.

Organizing a category

If your memoir doesn't fit in a category that already exists, it will appear as a red link. To categorize the new category, click on it, then enter the category to which it belongs. For example, to categorize the "Hurricane" category, you would enter this:

[[Category:Disasters]]

Then this:

[[Category:Events]]

Now everything is organized within one of the five primary categories on the front page.

Editing a memoir

Once you've saved a memoir, it can be edited later. Just go to your memoir and click the "Edit" tab. You can view previous edits to a memoir by clicking the "History" tab.

Renaming a memoir

Click the "Move" tab above a memoir, then enter a new name to rename a memoir.

Enhancing a memoir

Wikipedia Links

Keywords in memoirs can be linked to Wikipedia entries this way:

[[WP:Name of Wikipedia entry|Keyword]]

For example, if you mention London in your memoir, you can link it to Wikipedia like this:

[[WP:London|London]]

External Links

Other sites can be linked at the bottom of a memoir. First enter the "External Links" heading this way:

== External Links ==

Below this add each link this way:

[http://www.nameofwebsite.com Link Title]

Pictures

You can add pictures to memoirs by uploading them to MemoryArchive through the link in the toolbox menu on the left side. Insert them into a memoir this way:

[[Image:name of file|thumb|picture caption]]
