Leaving Home
It was the summer going into 6th grade and everything was going great. I was finally the oldest at the elementary school and all my friends were in my class. I had a teacher who was in her first year of teaching, Ms. Leverage. All was going great until my parents told my sister and me we were moving!I was devastated to hear the news. All I could say was why?! I had lived in the same house since I was a baby, I loved that house. It wasn’t the biggest house, but when we moved there we didn’t need the room.We had a huge backyard filled with swing sets, a pool, a shed, and our two family dogs. There was a kitchen, where you could always find mom cooking and the living room where dad was kicked back watching the game. Down the hall there were two bathrooms and three bedrooms. I was in the first bedroom, the biggest, and my sister had the smallest. Our parents room was the last bedroom, and closest to the big bathroom. However, I soon realized that maybe moving wouldn’t be such a bad idea. I went house looking with my mom first, we saw about twenty houses at least. Out of all those, only two we liked. I picked the second one, and that’s what we ended up getting! It was close to the school and close to my friends.1670 Twin Oaks Drive, it was the best house I had ever seen! The building trades built it, which seemed even cooler that highschoolers helped make my house! The most exciting part was picking out my room. The first thing I remember about my new house was the fish pond when you walk in the front door. I also remember running throughout the whole house and screaming. I picked the room upstairs with the biggest window. I made friends the day we moved in, Tori, Kassi, and Peyton. We hang out a bunch still, three years later. Moving from your childhood home to a brand new house is really tough. Family makes the process a whole lot easier. I think my family has come together even more since that day we moved from Flintwood to Twin Oaks. I know leaving this home and moving to my own house one day is going to be even harder, I’m ready for the challenge.
