I remember being stood on a street corner in Pristina in Kosovo on the even of the millenium. I was a serving British soldier and we were all a bit pissed we weren't at home celebrating the millenium with friends and family. The night was fantastic - everyone kept coming up to us and thanking us for their first free New Year - and what a New Year to have it. When I finished my operational tour and got home to friends and family I found out that for most of them the millenium had been over hyped. I'll never forget where I was when the new millenium came in and I wouldn't change it for the world.
