I live in New York City and I found out that the RNC convention was going to be held there nearly a year in advance. I knew I was going. My parents were apprehensive because they know about the expected number of arrests. It was unlike other protests I had attended because you were caged in with barriers. It was packed, nearly 800,000 people attended. We started at Union Square, all the way up 7th Ave passed the RNC and then back to Union square. The NYC cops are arrogant anyway but on the day of the RNC they were on a major power trip. They clearly did not want the protest to happen. It was very peaceful which was surprising with the number of people. Everyone kept their cool because we were standing for peace.
